About Us
The V.E.T. team could not be complete without the help and support of our volunteers from all over the world. We are proud to recognize volunteers from Denmark, Holland, Spain, Switzerland, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, U.S.A., India, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Israel and Canada. All the members of the V.E.T. Team are volunteers, and receive no money or gratuities of any kind for their work and dedication.
Laurie MacKenzie -- Co-Founder/Professor (Retired)
Laurie taught English in Yangshuo for two years before creating the V.E.T. Program. He believes that a Volunteer English Teacher program will be a great help to the future of the children in poor rural areas around Yangshuo. Laurie has also been involved in and led many volunteer programs in Canada. He is retired now and has returned to Canada.
Christian Dietz -- Co-Founder
Christian from USA , he is a very loving person, whom we all called him as grandpa, and he has been with VET since 2008,For more than ten years, he has been teaching rural children and donating school supplies,And he also brought many American volunteers to join us
Roger R·Beaud -- Coordinator
Roger R. Beaud is from Swiss. He has been teaching English in China at every level, from adult training to university students to middle school pupils and even to toddlers in kindergartens, has a BA degree in linguistics. Between the years 2000 and 2019, he has taught in Pingle, Liuzhou, Yangshuo in Guangxi AR, Guangzhou, Shenzhen in Guangdong Province. From 1998 to 2000, he taught German at a British middle school in Hong Kong. As a retiree, he is an enthusiastic supporter of the V.E.T. programs
Owen Buckland -- Co-Founder/President of Omeca
Owen has very generously provided an office for V.E.T. to operate as its administrative headquarters in Yangshuo. He has also given free accommodation and meals to some of the volunteers and assists in many other ways to support the V.E.T. programs and its administrative operations.
Peter – Program assistant
Welcome you when you arrive and arrange the transportation for you to village school .Living support and deal with the problem when you stay in China.
Yuki -- Program assistant
Welcomes you when you arrive , help you check into the hotel and show you around Yangshuo . Helps you with the registration process
Liu Hai – V.E.T. supervisor
Liu Hai helps the V.E.T. team with local information and assists with enquiries regarding the V.E.T.'s activities and services to the village schools.He is a Chinese youth, has opened an English school, organized many teenagers to participate in English activities.
Mr.Ying -- Program secretary
Mr.Ying is a iretired special-grade teacher in China.He enthusiastic in promoting Chinese-English bilingual education.He assists with some of the paperwork for V.E.T. and assist in the development of V.E.T. website.
